We love the land of "mostly true", the personal versions of handed-down tales of family, the philosophic exploration into "who am I? why am I here, now?"
As a person with a certifiably, verifiably different brain, I am fascinated with how my perception of realty is different, unique. But, that's the thing: all our realities are different. AND THAT IS SO COOL. Put five great writers in a room where something interesting happens, and they'd all write completely different stories to communicate what they saw and felt. HOW IS THAT NOT FASCINATING? The discrete nuances in meaning's fluctuation dependent on who is running the pen and the words and the images. AWESOME. Anyway, that's what we do, in a way. We write memoir-ish comics, teach writing memoir-ish comics, and print memoir-ish comics. Starting in the summer of 2016, we are also traveling to cons, libraries and unique groups talking and spreading memoir-ish comics. Just like we're talking to you, right now.
What are we looking for from you? Well, a few things:
1.) We are looking for writers, even ones who can't draw, and artists, even ones who can't write, to tell memoir-ish stories for us to print. Use "Tell us about yourself" to pitch your writing/art.
2.) Want to write a memoir comic, but don't know where to start? We are looking for students to teach online, one-on-one. Use "Tell us about yourself" to inquire about becoming a student or having us come out to teach at your organization or library.
3.) We are looking for commissions. Commissions fund our printing comics, facilitating workshops in local libraries and our growing outreach programs. If you want to support what we're doing, commission portrait drawings.
NOTE: We're all manner of different in the brain department, but we're open to anyone who has ever felt their brain is different in any way. And, there is no need to tell us how you feel different, unless you want to tell us.
